Saturn

I named this kitty Saturn because it likes to stay in high places. I usually see Saturn on the roof, on trees and Saturn is really a fast climber. The kitty's fur has three colors which I believe is lucky for I never had a three colored kitty. Saturn is very shy and as usual hated by the dogs. This was Saturn's last photo, I've never seen it for a while and I was wondering where he/she's gone? I hope I can find Saturn.

Slow Pace

As I watched the boat woman paddling the boat gently behind the lens, the thought of comparing the paces of life between me and her came to my mind. And while continuously pressing the shutter thinking that I might lose her while she slowly paddled the boat, I attentively watched how she paddled gracefully and enjoy the calm waters of the lake which of course I rarely do. The lush and beautiful scenery around her which she is gifted with and which I see only when I have the time. She seems like not minding the time of the day which I must be always aware of. Well probably these are just the things that differentiates life in the countryside and the city. There's just some things that we can't have, the boat woman's life may be simple but I can say that's she's more blessed than me.

My Pooch Tour Guide

Last Sunday I went to the countryside to take some photos and relax a bit for the long weekend. And this dog suddenly met us at the gate of the campsite and stayed with us all day. I asked about his name and they say they call the pooch "Fulgoso" haha what a nice name!

I was taking pictures of the view of the other side of the lake when Fulgoso suddenly appeared before my camera and well...showed off and distracted me from my photo shoot!

I just don't know if he was telling me to take pictures of him, so that's what I did!

And look at him! Isn't he cute?

And after that...he walked out of the water, dried himself up and sat beside me. Fulgoso made me really happy.

Gumamela's Visitor

Hibiscus are popularly called "Gumamela" here in the Philippines. They are often seen everywhere like the Ixora. It comes in different colors like yellow, pink, red, white and peach!

The white gumamelas in the garden blooms constantly, adding more life to the garden and making it's visitors nurtured!

Oh by the way, I tried baking my favorite Swiss Roll, filled with strawberry jam...it's yummy.

Ixora popularly known as Santan flower are the one of the most easiest plant to grow in the garden especially in the Philippines. Just cut a stalk and sink it into soil and after some weeks they begin to grow! It can be found almost anywhere like house gardens, parks, work places and school campuses. They come in different colors, like pink, white orange and yellow.
I grow a pink santan in my backyard and red orange which I planted two years ago and they bloom fast. I always like to look at them especially after the rain where droplets of water remains of the petals. Thank you for viewing.

Joy Of Dawn

Last Thursday was my birthday and I got up early to catch the golden sunrise and thank God for another gift of life. I was expecting a round and golden sun but it didn't show up and I was very disappointed. But hey...HE did show me a beautiful sky, a special gift which I truly appreciated and I know He wouldn't let me go home without a smile on my face! Can you see that flying bird?

Sunflowers of this kind are seldom seen in the country, they grow in some parts of the country mostly in the highlands due to the favourable climate. I'm not so sure if these variety grows here because these lovely sunflowers were just given to me as a birthday present and I truly appreciate it.

Do you still remember Petunia and Cole? Well, there they are now. Okay, I thought Cole (black kitty) is male but she wasn't because Cole is a female cat! So I changed her name from Cole to Cola! Petunia has kitties now and I haven't named them, as usual they're on the roof again afraid of the dogs. I took advantage of taking pictures of them while they're squeezing themselves in that little wooden crate...and just look how comfortable they are!

It's hair and spines serves as it's defense from predators, hot or dry weather conditions and can cause skin irritations to humans. We all know that they're like "eating machines" which sometimes cause damages to farmlands, but what can they do? Everyone needs to eat...or we won't have butterflies to capture at all haha.

Life has been so busy lately, I know I've neglected doing blogs as well as visiting yours blogs and I have a lot to catch up. Well, we call that flower as "bulaklak ng baston ni San Jose" (whew pretty long), in our language and I'm not sure how you call it in English, a bulb plant and belongs to the Lily family. Canyon Cove Sunset

I have been patiently waiting for the sun to set, it is my most awaited time of the day when the coasts gets dark and the skies turns to gold. This picture was taken last summer at Canyon Cove, Batangas situated on the southern part of the Philippines. 2 hours away from the capital city, a quick getaway from the hot weather in the city.

Virgin Island

A part from my trip to Bohol was the beautiful landscape of Virgin Island. It's an uninhabited place and only locals were there to sell sea urchins and some souvenir items. The shimmering white sands which can be seen from a distance, the lush green trees which grows around, the pristine clear waters and sweet breeze all went together which makes this place a perfect place for nature lovers.

Queen Tree

There was this tall tree in the middle of the meadow during our trip in Majayjay (Mahaihai), Laguna. We were walking to look for a place where we could eat breakfast and we find this beautiful tree standing tall and proud among the other trees. I was enchanted by it's beauty and thought it could the Queen of the trees in that forest. What do you think?

Chasing Dolphins

The sky was gloomy when we went out to see the dolphins in the waters of Panglao Island. We hired a motorboat and off it went against, and up and down the successions of waves in the sea.

We thought the dolphins had drifted in the sea, we patiently waited for them and I was surprised to see some of them emerged on the surface and race with boats! There were hundreds of them and they're everywhere!

It took time for me to focus the camera on them 'cos they're moving very fast, faster than our boat and I think they're playing tricks on us!

There! That's the closest I can get to snap on them! Can you see them? I had a lot fun chasing and racing with dolphins and I know there are several pods in that area and I wouldn't hesitate to come back and see them again!

Kitty Islander

I never thought that I would meet a sweet kitty when we reached this little island called "Virgin Island". From what I know there are no residents in that island except for fishermen who waits for tourists and sell sea urchins.

As I put my bag on the sad, along came a sweet kitty and cuddled my bag, such a warm welcome.

There are some cats in that island and I wonder how they get there! I saw them eating with the fishermen who cooks food on the island.

She never left us during our stay in that island and she was a good watcher. I don't know what's her name but sure she is a very hospitable and a good tourist guide.

I never stopped taking pictures of her, she's very candid and she doesn't mind the camera, maybe she's used to it.

Handsome Cole

Remember Cole? The little black kitty who was left in the backyard with his siblings by their Mommy Prudence, is now a getting to be a handsome kitty! This picture was taken last March, the time when I was hiding him from the dogs. I kept him in a cage for a while, to keep him safe.
And look at him now! He's getting handsome, bigger and sweeter. Whenever I go to the garden and check him if he's still there...he always greets me with a soft "meow", as if he is saying "good morning", and I just smile back at him.

Cole can run here, there and everywhere, he can protect himself from the dogs, he can quickly run and jump to the tree or in any higher place and the dogs are just to annoyed that they never had a chance to chase him. And I'm so proud to see how he has grown!

One Hot Weekend

Last week's temperature was hot so we decided to leave the city and go somewhere where we could feel some relief from the scorching heat.We went to Canyon Cove Resort, and there we had a lot of fun doing some water activities and get tanned! I always make sure that I bring my native hand-woven bag and my big shoal so I can get all my stuff in there, camera and some important belongings plus a box of muffin hidden under the bag!

Kayaking very early in the morning is very relaxing, the calm waters made us paddle more and tour around seeing corals underneath and leaping fishes!

After the kayak, we enjoyed the blue waters, divided the waves, splashes of salty waters on our faces with the banana boat ride! The motorboat man, made a quick sharp turn, flipping the boat upside down, sending us all to the water. It was exciting! Don't worry we had our life vest on for safety. I wanna do it again next time!

The Chocolate Hills are one of the most famous natural tourist attraction in the Philippines, it consists of 1200 mole-like hills and are very uniform in size and shape. They are covered with grass during the rainy and turn to chocolate brown on dry season. I took this picture on one of my trip last month.

Coffee And Tiger

I usually post pictures of my two lovable adopted dogs in my other blog. And I know some of you may have not met them. Coffee is a 4 year poodle which I rescued from his owner, several years ago when I learned that he was being battered and the owner doesn't want to keep him anymore. He has a very sad life, he was caged for a year before I adopted him, he was drenched under the rain and left shivering, cold and crying. Until I decided to adopt him when I learned about his story. I know Coffee is very happy with us and ever happier with his new best friend Tiger.

Well Tiger the Chihuahua was only having a vacation here at home because the owner left and there was no one to look after him. When it's time for us to return him, it's the same thing my friend would leave the country for a while again and nobody would look after him. So we finally decided to let Tiger stay with us for good! Chihuahuas are such adorable dogs as well as with poodles. Honestly I'm not fond of small dogs because I'm used to big dogs, but when these two creatures started to do some tricks, lick my face and jump for joy whenever I come home, it takes away all the negative vibes in my system and I love them! By the way he is so camera shy.

Update With Prudence's Kitties

This kitty unfortunately passed away last week, she looks lonely and yearning for Prudence's affection. I've been trying to keep up with the kitties, feeding them with chicken livers, giving them comfortable cots to stay warm at night, holding them often but I think it's not enough. Four kitties had already died and the only one left is Cole.

I named him Cole, he is a handsome and playful kitty and so far I can see he is going to grow up as a brave kitty. For the meantime Cole is in a cage to protect him from the dogs and I always make sure that he is comfortable and well fed. There are times I let him out of the cage and play on my watch. When he comes a bit bigger and able to protect himself from the dogs I'll set him free. I know Cole will survive.

RED-The Brenda Photo Challenge

Ah it's the Brenda Photo Challenge, it's been a while since I've joined here. I missed a lot. Anyway the theme for this challenge is RED! It's the most popular color so I guess we always see it anywhere!

Like for example this toy red car meant for kids who wanted to have a haircut and are sometimes afraid to have it...I think this car would invite more kids! Do ya think so?
Obviously a RED temple, the color red is a symbol for good luck and I believe.

Lanterns, lanterns on Chinese New Year especially RED ones makes streets look more vibrant.
And...attractive RED seat on the park is a favorite hangout!

Prudence

I remember Prudence when she was just sneaking around the house and always chased by the dogs, she kept on sitting on the fence waiting for the perfect time to steal food from the dog's plate. So when I saw and finally decided to adopt her, she became comfortable to all of us and even with the dogs. She just stays quietly on top of the washing machine waiting for her food, sleeps on the porch to cool herself during the summer heat, plays with the dogs and when she has kitties she's a very protective kitty mom.
It's been 3 weeks now and Prudence is still missing. The last time I saw her was when she brought all her 5 kitties from the roof and after that she was gone. I miss Prudence. 3 of her kitties had died and I'm trying to take care of the last two. I'm feeding them with chicken livers, milk and cat food. I hope they will survive.

Would You Like To Ride?

Last week, we went to see the Hot Air Balloon Festival at Clark Airbase and was also invited by friend to watch skydiving but unfortunately the weather wasn't that cooperative, the wind wasn't sufficient enough to do all these fun activities! People who came with cameras wasn't really happy with the gloomy weather, the sun and the wind weren't there! Where were both of you! Anyway I really did my best to take pictures of these balloons, it only happens once a year so I have to make the most of it!

Yesterday I was on a hot air balloon festival, and it was such a romantic way to celebrate Valentines with the whole family. Flower pinwheels were all over the place and it was fun watching them being blown in all those different colors.

There was also this blackboard wherein anybody can write messages to their loved ones. I find it cute. I didn't write, I don't need a pen or paper or anything to let him know that I love him, no words can express how much I love him.

This is the first time I took a picture of Mt. Makiling and I must say that she's really beautiful! Mt. Makiling is an active volcano,located in Laguna in the island of Luzon, Philippines. Named after Maria Makiling who was said to be the fairy roaming around and protecting the mountain, has been the most popular legendary character in Philippines folklore. Home for hot springs, lush forest and a perfect place for hiking, picnics, camping and nature tripping.

Eating Pizza By The Beach

Eating pizza pie along the beach is not really a good idea...it get's cold at once and the hot sauce bottle keeps on falling and rolling due to strong wind and you'll end up groping for it and before you can grab it, pizza is cold haha. But the pizza taste good.

Mama Prudence Where Are You?

This kitty is one of Prudence's kitties, she has five which she keeps as usual on the roof to hide them from my dogs. A few days ago Prudence brought all her kitties down and left them, until now Prudence hasn't come back yet, it's been 5 days now and still no trace of Prudence, just like Muning didn't come back at all. Aww poor cutie kitties. I just hope Prudence would come back for her babies, I don't have the m ilk to feed them, but I can give them tender love and care,which I know they missed from Mama Prudence.

Tamarindu Beach

Tamarindu Beach is located in Laiya, Batangas, a resort best for quick weekend getaway with the family. They only have 10 rooms for accommodating guests which is why the resort is best for family.

It's serene and clean surroundings, delicious food cooked as you order, friendly and courteous staff, makes me want to come again.

They serve pizza for the guests and I thought we ordered a lot of it, we had it served along the beach and it's my first time to eat pizza on a beach LOL!

A nice place to hang around or just lie on the cavanas , read books or just sit and watch the sunset. We also had a nice time playing frisbee, volleyball and then plunge to the water after!

RC Plane Airshow

It was my first time to come with RC flyers last weekend to watch the airshow. My friends often invites me to go with him and take photos of them, but I always refuse to because I thought it's boring. But when I went with him last weekend it was a different adventure and all I can say was ahhh and oooh as I watch this RC planes zoom into the air and do aerobatics! My camera didn't stop from snapping from the beginning of the show until the end, that's how exciting it was!

Taho Vendor By The Shore

A taho vendor is usually seen everywhere here in the Philippines. They usually carry two big tin cans hanged on each end of the pole. It is a very popular healthy snack in the country, made from soft tofu, caramelized brown sugar and pearl jellies. Taho is eveybody's all time favorite, the vendor shouts "tahoooooooo" very loudly, that can be heard by everyone in the household and that's the time we'll go out holding a cup or a bowl to be filled with the delicious taho!

HELLO AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hello to everyone! I know it's been a looong time since I had my last entry and I am missing you all! Well how's everybody? Are you all having a nice time? I hope so. As for me, I been busy going here, there, everywhere, got busy during the holidays and just an update with my MIL, she has fully recovered from her surgery and she can walk again...very fast with her bionic legs LOL! I am also very joyful when we learned from the different universities where Dawn(daughter) applied for her college education that she passed all of them and I feel proud again to be her MOM! She's smart, smarter than me! Haha!

Aside from that, I had a good time reuniting with my old time but not so old friends from primary and secondary school. Just last week, a reunion with my grade school classmates was held and I was very glad to see them again, knowing that some of them were my childhood friends, we all grew up and played together during those days! It's fun to reminisce memories from childhood days, laughter filled the whole place, games were held and the table was flooded with different kinds of specialty dishes! It was a BLAST! Today's theme for Donna's The Brenda Photo Challenge is Orange. A color which always delights me for it lights up everything with it's shade! An orange fruit looks so tasty, juicy and delectable. Most of the tropical fruits which grows in the country are mostly in orange like the mango which usually bears fruits during the months of January until May.

The soft skin of the mandarine orange is easily peeled and it's segments are easy to separate is an ideal treat for salad and dessert lovers.

An orange sunset with the windmills on the background makes me want to...

sit on the veranda and enjoy the cozy orangey effect of the lanterns as well as with the orange hammock.

I took this photo a few months back during a town festival, I was asked to donate something either in cash or in kind and the fire breather will perform right in front of me! And I took advantage of it...and there it goes!! Oh my... the fire is as orange as ever! So cool but so hot!

Sweet Little Petunia

Petunia is growing fast, was it only yesterday when she's still curiously roaming around the house, and familiarizing herself with the surroundings.

She was shy then and aloof to all of us, but not until she got older. She's comfortable and enjoys our company in fact I can't even sit on that rocking chair! It's always occupied by her.

And even keeps my purple thread.

Update on Muning, it's been almost 8 weeks since Muning was gone, and I don't know if I can still find him.

I think Begonias are one of the easiest plant to grow, I can almost see in every garden. The variety of colors are one of it's qualities that's why they are so attractive. They come in red, pink, yellow and white. Father used to grow a lot of them in the garden, he has the pink ones which I always pick when I was a kid and play with them.

My Blueberry Coffee Cake

Yes I broke it...I broke it in the middle of creaming the butter. And I was so upset. I was mixing the butter with my electric mixer and it started to emit smoke and I was like aaaaahhh! So I hurriedly grab my wooden spoon and started to mix it manually!

I put some blueberries on top of the cake mix, actually it's blue but there something wrong with the camera haha, it's canned blueberries 'cos we don't grow blueberries here. Excuses..excuses haha!

And the last, topped it with streusel mixture!
TADA!

The cake turned out to be fine...actually it's better than the one which I did before!

Bangui Windmills

On the second day of our road trip we had to make a stop in the small town of Bangui, Ilocos Norte to see one of the most beautiful structure in the Philippines and that is the Bangui Windmills.

20 gigantic and powerful rows of windmills along the coasts of Bangui bay and I can't help but press the shutter over and over again!

Taal Lake

I thought it was my lucky day when the lake volcano showed and took a nice photo of it, I have tried so many times everytime I visit this place and often failed. Well it looks nice to me I don't know with the others LOL! That crater in the middle of the lake was a part of that 18,000 feet high volcano which erupted many years ago and the place where I am standing was the rim of that huge volcano...can you imagine? I also have been in that crater once, and it's 30 minutes boat ride from the little town where I was, was an unforgettable experience when fishes came jumping with the boats as if they're rejoicing to see tourists around. The atmosphere in the crater when I arrived there was preternatural there was something different in the place, the silence was eerie and I can't help but stay in one place and observe.

Skywatching With The Ifugaos

O land of the beautiful rice terraces like stairs reaching the blue
We pledge our hearts in true devotion to work for the best for your sake
O land of Hudhud and the Alim as sung by forebears of old
There stands the Hagabi of Kadangyan and rich cultures we proudly own.

These were the words written on an inscription at the foot of the rice terraces. Ifugaos refers to the people, their culture. They are the natives which lived and built the rice terraces. The inscriptions were written in their dialect and later on translated to English which is their second language. So if any foreigner might pass by this place they won't get lost, they can ask anybody in English and they will answer back in English fluently. Better than mine!

Walking along the trails of rice terraces is thrilling and full of adventure, that was me and the tour guide while we're heading to the falls. The trails was narrow so we must walk in single file, one wrong move and you'll get soaked in the paddies!

One Baby Kitty One Lost Kitty

Sunday, World Cats Day, Prudence gave birth to a cute black kitty on the roof(again), and on that same day Muning, my senior kitty who lived with us for almost 15 years is nowhere to be found. Muning is sick, I used to see him on the laundry area, sleeping or just resting, he can't walk around much because he is too weak to do so.

I feed him often so as for him to regain strength but the other day I noticed that he wasn't around at breakfast so I waited...but Muning is a no show. It's been 3 days now and Muning is still missing. I hope he is okay and just wandering around the neighborhood, I know he will come home. :((

Countryside Tour With A Cause

Yesterday I was out to meet some friends, who were organizing a charity to support an orphanage and they wanted to ask for some opinions on how to raise funds. It was raining and the main streets were foggy, so we decided to stop by a nearby garden cafe to eat breakfast and talk.

Sonya's Garden is one of the most popular place in Tagaytay City, there is a special atmosphere and I feel relaxed with all the things that surrounds me.

There were colorful flower shrubs in different colors and appearance.

Flowers on vines...

I don't know how they call this relaxing place, the cushions are soft as well as with the colorful print designs of the covers, I almost fell asleep here.

I told you ...who wouldn't feel relaxed!

And beside it you will hear the trickle of water pouring a basin full of rose petals and all sorts of flowers that smells so soothing.

Roses in different colors but I prefer taking a picture of the white ones.

Old benches under an arch of flowering vines...notice the potpourris on the sides.

And before we departed the place I saw this inspiring message near the exit gate.

We had a good time yesterday and made plans for the forthcoming charity with smiles in our faces. We headed home and it's still foggy in the main streets.

But as we travel on the road I managed to get a good picture of the Taal Lake, well I thought I was very lucky to take a nice view of that volcano!

The Farmer's Market Challenge

I would like to thank Judy for bringing back The Farmer's Market Challenge which I have been looking forward to, it's been a while since we had the last challenge. The purpose of this challenge is to bring awareness for locally produced foods and if you would like to take part with the challenge feel free to join and visit Judy's The Road To Here.

These photos were taken last summer when we were invited by a friend of ours who farms on cabbages and other vegetables in the mountain slopes of Mt. Banahaw. And during those times the effect of El Nino was at it's peak, causing damages in some rice fields and farms, massive fish kills in fish farms due to lack of oxygen, drought in some parts of the country, the hot temperature rose up to it's extreme level and worse... dams were at it's critical level causing water shortages in the metropolis!

During that time cabbages were their main source of income, it grows fast and abundantly. Cabbages are very much in demand in the country for it goes well with some of our favorite dishes as well with salads.

The farmer shows us some of his good harvest. It is ready to be packed and be delivered to the nearby market.

And he told us that we can pick as many as we want, as long as it can fit in the car!

The farmer also showed us the rejects, meaning they are not really good for human consumption and all will be fed to his cattle.
There...look at him...showing off his bountiful harvest!

Stewed chicken with garlic, onions, ginger, potatoes, carrot and Chinese cabbage is an all time favorite especially on rainy days!

We are not expecting that the El Nino will have a positive effect on other farm industries especially those with crops which enjoys the dry spells. Would you believe that the prices of most commodities especially the vegetables were extremely inexpensive? People were rejoicing that the prices of onions, garlic, potatoes dropped at it's lowest price ever! And most of these crops can resist the driest season. I made lots of green salads then, I have to take advantage of the prices and the abundance!

The Leaning Bell Tower

The hexagonal bell tower of Sta. Maria Church in Ilocos Sur, Philippines was built in 1810 beside the church. The Spanish inspired architecture was built by heavy stones and mortars and the salmon pink color of the church and the bell tower adds softness it. The leaning structure which often attracts attention especially to the tourists has been the favorite subject for photography due to it's quaintness, texture and location.

I apologize for I haven't been visiting blogs lately, I was very busy then. By the way, to those who asked where the Tappiya Falls is located, it's within the Batad Rice Terraces, Ifugao Province, Luzon.

Finished Project!

If you still remember my post in Our Weekend Memoirs earlier about the unfinished curtains, well here it is now! The lace mocca curtains fits perfectly in the family room. I bought the fabric in Divisoria, a market where we can find everything we need for a very cheap price!

The sofa set was delivered last week as well with the lazy boy, the sofa set by the way was bought in a flea market, the original color was off white but we decided to re-upholster it with a darker color.

The lazy boy was also bought in the flea market and it's original cover was fabric, the cushions were soggy so we decided to have it changed into tan German leather. So, now that everything is in order the family room is complete, we can sit, lie comfortably without pushing each other like what we did when we still have that small living room set we had before. The family room is where we get together especially during weekends to watch a film on DVD, or listen to music or exchange stories or simply relax...next project! Throw pillows!

According to the locals of Sta. Maria, this church was originally located in a distant place before it's present location. It is said that the Virgin Mary usually disappear from her place of enthronement only to be found on a guava tree on top of a hill. And this story led the townsfolk to erect the church on top of the hill with the image of the Virgin Mary and the guava tree engraved on the facade of the church.

200th Post On Cats On Tuesdays

I still remember Prudence when she was still a stray cat, stealing foods from my dog's dish and Muning's plate then scamper away the moment she see the dogs coming. She often end up on top of the tree waiting for the dogs to get tired from waiting, sometimes it takes a long time before she could go down the tree. I often see her on the fence meowing out loud in front of my room as if calling me and asking for food. It makes my heart break the moment I see her eyes staring at me begging for food. Although I really wanted to adopt her, I don't know how I could pacify the dogs in case she's around the house.

It took a while before the dogs get used to her presence, until Prudence has managed to get along with the other pets. And now she has a kitty baby Petunia she wouldn't feel alone. Petunia do get along well with Tiger my chihuahua, they play in the garden chasing bees and butterflies, killing birds and frogs and scattering the trashes in the garbage bin! My friends always ask me how could I make my dogs and cats go harmoniously well with each other? Well I don't know, it just happened!

Today, I am celebrating my 200th post with my kitty blogger friends as well as with my blogger friends who always find time visiting my blog and religiously leaves nice comments. It's has been a year since I joined Blogger and I got to meet a lot of friends and I am so happy to have been a part of Blogger and that I made some people entertained with my blogs, and on this note, I say thank you to all of you.

Walking In The Middle

Thank God everyone is safe from last night's typhoon, it was so furious that electricity has been cut off for a long time, trees had fallen, and lots of leaves were torn into pieces and scattered everywhere.

Anyway, the photo was taken last summer in Canimog Island, this part of the island displays an enchanting view of the underwater especially when the water receded in the middle of the day, You can walk in the middle of the sea on a bed of limestone, like what we did! The mini coral reefs on the beach is not too deep where you can take a dip, and touch the colorful corals underneath or simply play with the fishes!

Another solar powered lighthouse stood on a hill this time and not on a cliff and overlooking the South China sea serves sea navigators for more than a century. It is one of the famous historical landmark in Ilocos Norte, Philippines.

A friendly lighthouse keeper will guide tourists climb the winding staircases with the aid of a lantern until you have reached the lighted area of the lighthouse and when tourists get there, their dizzy LOL! Unfortunately the keeper was out when we got there, so we weren't able to climb to the top! I wonder why lighthouse keepers were out when I visit them, well maybe I take too much pictures.

Prudence The El Nino Survivor

Hello, I know some of my kitty buddies are having a hard time coping with the heatwave, I know how it feels, 'cos I've surpassed all the hot weather conditions that hit the country, just like we had last summer. It's still hot here in the country, knowing that the rainy season had just begun! But I just don't know why rains don't come often. Hmm maybe because of the so-called climate change! Well, whatever that is.

Just keep cool my kitty buddies, take a lot of fluids...ew. I know some of us doesn't really like water but it helps. Stay under bushes, stay away from concrete floor but instead find a grassy part in your backyard and keep your patience. It will not be forever. Take care.

Spicy And Cheesy Duck Stew

And for today, I went to the market very early in the morning to buy dressed ducks, bought the other ingredients and alas! There you go...a delectable lunch of spicy duck stew!

Gumamela

Gumamela is how we call them, popularly know as Hibiscus. They come in different colors, which I wish I had them all in our garden. I have a yellow hibiscus, peach a long time ago but my dogs tore them into pieces and this white and red Gumamela is all that's left!

Gumamela's root, flowers and leaves have many medicinal uses such as, expectorant, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, anti-infections, emollient and diuretic.

I love Gumamelas!
